Regional and indie music gains momentum on popularity charts
Over the last few years, there has been an exponential increase in the number of regional songs that have ruled the music charts, be it Dhanush and Sai Pallavi’s hit dance number Rowdy Baby, or the Telugu hit Buttabomma, or AP Dhillon, Gurinder Gill and Shinda Kahlon’s Punjabi song Brown Munde. But is it just the power of social media that's creating hype around newer artists, or are listeners, on the search for fresh tunes, contributing to it too?
